Marula beer // Sarah’s mom
But, the most popular thing to do with marula in the villages is to brew marula beer. It’s pretty lethal stuff after fermenting in the hot sun for a week (most of the men are drunk all the time). We wanted to try it, so Sarah’s 79-year-old mom gave us a bottle of some that she made. It was still pretty mild, but it definitely worked and we didn’t get diarrhea or anything!
